National Youth Games: Lagos girls clinch gold in football

Team Lagos’ gold medal win in the women’s football event of the 8th National Youth Games has become a source of inspiration and motivation in the State.

The Under 15 Lagos girls beat their counterparts from Bayelsa 2-0 in the final played at St Patrick’s School in Asaba, Delta State.

In a congratulatory message, Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, Hajji Gafar Liameed noted the triumph is another testament to the ongoing rebirth of football in the state.

“We’re happy and proud of our girls for winning the gold medal in the football event of the ongoing National Youth Games. It is a culmination of the handwork of everybody concerned with youth development and empowerment in the various agencies in the state,” and elated Gafar enthused.

“Much more, we must praise and thank His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, providing an enabling environment for sports and youths to develop and thrive in the state, in line with his epochal T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda.”

Hajji Liameed, promised that the Lagos FA, would not relent in its efforts to ensure it engendered a rewarding, progressive and sustainable football ecosystem in the state.
