Bandits who collected N8.5 million before releasing four out of 17 hostages have now demanded two brand new Bajaj motorcycles for the release of the remaining victims in captivity.

The bandits invaded Kawu community in Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on December 26, 2023, and abducted 23 persons. Some escaped, leaving behind 17 others in captivity. The bandits were said to have threatened to kill the remaining hostages over delayed ransom.

A family member of one of the victims, Bala Dantani, told DailyTrust on Friday, Feb. 2, that the ransom was paid in tranches.

He said a sum of N5 million was raised and handed over to the bandits, after they threatened to kill the captives two weeks ago.
