The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja on Friday upheld the judgement of Kano Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, declaring APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, as winner of the governorship election in the state.

The appellate court therefore dismissed the appeal filed by the NNPP candidate and governor of Kano State, Abba Yusuf.

The Kano State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal on September 20 sacked the governor and declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Nasiru Gawuna, winner of the March 18 governorship poll.

Dissatisfied by the lower tribunal’s decision, the governor, through his counsel Wole Olanipekun, asked the appellate court to set aside the judgment of the tribunal.

Meanwhile, Four persons were confirmed dead following a tragic road accident near Dinyar Madiga village in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State.

Several other persons were said to have sustained injuries during the accident, which occurred late Friday evening.

The Public Relations Office, Kano State Fire Service, Saminu Abdullahi, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Sunday.

He explained that the incident tragically resulted in the loss of four lives and left numerous others with injuries.

He said,” It was reported that a motorbike carrying three individuals attempted to overtake a bus, resulting in a collision that caused the bus to overturn and catch fire.”

He revealed that upon arrival at the scene, firefighters discovered four people unconscious and managed to rescue six others, including the bus driver.
