Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, the son of the former presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has been nominated as commissioner-nominee in Kano.

The Kano state governor, Abba Yusuf, included him in the list of names sent to the state Assembly for confirmation as commissioners.

It was not clear whether the governor planned to do a mild cabinet reshuffle or just add up the four nominees to his 13-member cabinet.

Recently, Governor Yusuf directed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to issue evaluation forms to all his commissioners.

During their swearing-in ceremony, he had declared that they were on “probation,” emphasizing that their performance would determine whether they would remain in their positions.

Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor who founded the NNPP, reportedly did everything to ensure Yusuf got the ticket and won the governorship election.

It was gathered that for his son to be appointed commissioner is an expression of gratitude by Governor Yusuf to his godfather and benefactor.

Other nominees on the list submitted to the Kano State Assembly included Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Usman Shehu Aliyu, and Abduljabbar Garko.

The speaker, Jibril Falgore, admitted receipt of the nominees’ list during plenary on Tuesday, March 26.

He said the screening of the commissioner-nominees will take place next week.
