Man in court over alleged tricycle theft

35-year-old  man, Yusuf Danladi, was on Thursday arraigned before a Kaduna  Magistrate Court , for allegedly stealing  a tricycle valued  N1.2million.

Usman, whose residential address was not given, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, breach of trust and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan. 26, at about 10:00a.m, at Badiko area of Kaduna.

He said that the complainant, Ahmed Sani bought a brand new tricycle, and gave the defendant on hire purchase and warned him not to give it to any other person.

“However, the defendant breached the agreement and conspired with others at

large to steal the complainant’s tricycle, claiming that it was stolen by gunmen,” he said.

According to Leo, the offences committed contravened the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.

Usman pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him by the police.

The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted him bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relation.

Emmanuel said that the sureties must be gainfully employed with evidence of two years tax payment to Kaduna State.

He adjourned the case until March 7, for hearing.
