The Super Eagles of Nigeria booked their place in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semifinals with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Angola on Friday evening.
Ademola Lookman was the hero for Nigeria, finding the net just before halftime at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
After a shaky start to the tournament, the Super Eagles have found their rhythm, and their resilience was on display against the Angolan side. Lookman’s goal was assisted by Moses Simon. Nigeria’s defense held firm in the second half, weathering Angolan pressure to secure the victory.
This win means the Super Eagles have reached the AFCON semifinals since 2019, setting sights on a fourth title.
They will face the winner of the upcoming clash between Cape Verde and South Africa on Wednesday, February 7th.
