Residents in the Federal Capital Territory reportedly invaded a warehouse belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency of Nigeria (NEMA) located in Karimo, Phase 3 Region of Abuja, on Sunday morning. According to Vanguard, the residents allegedly carted away foodstuffs and other items from the warehouse.

In response to the incident, the police in Abuja were deployed to the area to disperse the looters. Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Police Command, confirmed the incident, stating that the situation had been brought under control. She reassured the public, saying, “The situation is now under control.”

NEMA warehouses are vital facilities for storing emergency supplies, including food, medical supplies, and other essentials, to be distributed in times of disasters or crises. The looting not only deprives those in need of access to these supplies but also undermines the agency’s ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
