Nigeria continues to account for 27 per cent of global malaria cases and 32 per cent of global malaria deaths despite numerous campaigns, including huge funds allocated to the fight in eradicating the disease across the country, say experts.
According to the World Health Organisation, malaria is an acute febrile illness caused by Plasmodium parasites, which are spread to people through the bites of infected female Anopheles mosquitoes.

The goal of making the country mosquitoes-free has continued to be an effort in futility for both the government and other partners involved in the fight against malaria.
